Fun & Creativity
Art
The arts invite children to imagine, solve problems, communicate ideas and emotions, and make sense of their experiences. Creative arts are a significant part of early childhood curriculum. Creative arts can enhance children’s development of skills in literacy, science, mathematics, social studies, and more.
Music
Children learn and experience sound through singing, music, listening, and playing instruments. They can explore and respond to musical elements such as pitch (high/low), tempo (fast/slow), dynamics (loud/soft), and a steady beat.
Movement
As children’s bodies continue to grow and develop, they gain greater motor control with movement. Children can go beyond just using their bodies in functional ways. They can take great pleasure in expressing themselves through creative movement.
Language
The achievement of language and literacy skills improve social interactions. Young children want to interact and communicate with others. Some language and literacy learning happens naturally during play and everyday experiences with other children. They can also learn literacy skills with assistance from adults, in the form of reading, talking with and interacting with adults.
Mathematics
As children explore their environment, they will begin to notice relationships that are the foundation for mathematics. They can learn with using manipulatives, number lines counting activities and through story problems etc... Learning activities are based on children’s natural interests and offer children the time and freedom to construct math ideas.
Outside Play
Outside play is important for children's cognitive, social and emotional development. Playing outdoors benefits children's physical health. It gives them opportunities to develop their gross motor skills, coordination and balance as they run, jump, skip and hop as well as climb, slide and learn to land safely
